Skylum Reinventing Traditional Photo Editing with Generative AI Technology.
Using The Power of Generative AI Construct Your Own Prompts to Edit Your Photos Composition.
This technology enables photographers to modify the composition of an image by substituting or exchanging objects, or effortlessly incorporating new details generated by AI in response to the user’s instructions (prompt).
GenSwap also offers the capability to enhance images by introducing elements like trees, animals, and other elements, thereby transforming ordinary photos into captivating visuals.
For instance, you can replace an unappealing tree with a more aesthetically pleasing one, add a bird to the sky, or place a stone in the desert to achieve a more comprehensive and compelling photograph.
Note how the blooming flowers have been generated with a prompt
If you’ve ever played around with any of the AI Art Generators available, you’ll find GenSwap to be equally as challenging as well as, as much fun.
Using GenSwap for the first time may require a few tries before achieving that satisfactory result.
However, GenSwap is actually quite fun to use. If you have ever played around with any of the AI text-to-art generators available, you’ll find GenSwap to be equally as challenging as well as, as much fun.
What we discovered is that there are a few things you need to be aware of. Read through the following to prepare yourself for what to expect:
a) First, of all you you will notice a plus (+) cursor appear, this is so you can select the area you wish to edit. You can be fairly generous with the areas you select
b) Try to avoid using verbs such as; add, create, change, erase, and remove. Instead use nouns to describe exactly what you want, go into detail.
c) Ensure that you mask the entire area of the parts of an image you want to edit. This includes shadows and reflections
Prompt: close up, silver rocket launching, detail dynamic lighting
Prompt: arched vine lilac, red, pink and yellow tropical flowers
In this case, the first thing we did was choose an image that we thought would readily lend itself to the treatment of Generative AI editing.
With our first attempts we thought we’d try something radical, such as using a photo of a cloudy sky and prompting GenSwap to render a rocket launching from the designated masked area.
Now, bear in mind that we are currently using a beta version of GenSwap, so while we did come across a few questionable results, this GenSwap beta does show a lot of promise.
Overall, GenSwap is well poised for becoming that photo editing tool that, first, will introduce photographers to a practical use for text-to-image generative ai, and secondly, provide greater opportunity for photographers to challenge their imagination.
