Today we live in a time where communication takes place between individuals at a pace that was once only imagined in stories of magic or science fiction.
Well, the magic is here in the form of AI…
Whilst the thought of Artificial Intelligence may be slightly exaggerated and has lead to the idea of AI automated tasks replacing the need for humans. However, this cannot be entirely the case. After all, it will take a human to instruct or operate the AI technology in question. The same applies where we talk about photography and photo editing.
And this is also where Luminar AI pushes the boundaries towards achieving more realistic effects by matching human subjects with the lighting of the sky.
#luminartips Under the SkyAI tab simply select “Scene Relighting” and adjust the sliders.
Ultimately, the need for that human touch is essential where it comes to creative photography and image editing. In the case of Luminar AI, artificial intelligence is used to simply short-cut the laborious technical and often arbitrary processes towards realising “that image you have in your head.”
Impressed, I have been following the progress of Skylum’s Luminar photo editing software for some time now. In fact, as far back as the days of Macphun (which I pronounced “Mac Fun.” How about you?).
Anyway, as I was saying, it was during this time that I was first introduced to, actually Aurora HDR, another Skylum app, that I immediately realised how Aurora HDR differed from what I had been used to; using software like Adobe Photoshop or Affinity Photo.
In comparison, Aurora HDR certainly felt like there were buttons missing, but the results were fantastic, and achieving them was fast. Made you feel like you were cheating.
However, here’s the thing. And anyone who has worked in this wide-ranging and competitive industry will know, that the end result is what the public and clients are most interested in, and not the process (although, admittedly, the process can be quite exciting too – when you know what you’re doing).
So with that, the following is a run-through of just some of the underlying “benefits” to using, this, the 2nd Update of photo editing software Luminar AI.
Building on the legacy of having created the world’s first automatic photo editing sky replacement technology. The same technology can be further enjoyed with Luminar AI’s SkyAI, and how it automatically reflects the sky to realistically echo and compliment its surrounding including reflections.
With professional non-destructive photo editing technology, Luminar AI allows you to try out different edits to your photos with more confidence.
PNG Overlays: Upload PNG files with transparency as textures in Luminar AI and use to add watermarks or special customisations to photos.
➤ Realistic sky reflections in water. Automatically reflect your newly placed sky in water in the most realistic way. Saving you tons of time playing with layers, and other fiddly tools.
➤ Relight. Achieve realistic scene relighting by eliminating strong colour casts from the sky on foreground objects.
➤ Human Aware Relighting. The Relight human control, recognises human subjects and will allow you to easily do the honour of relighting your subject to match your scene.
➤ Seamless sky orientation. For a perfect fit, align your newly placed sky to the original horizon with the new Orientation controls
