Artificial Intelligence and Photo Editing – How does it all work?
Let’s start from the beginning and briefly explain what, Artificial Intelligence is and why it is a useful innovation for creative photographers and photo artists.
In a nutshell Artificial Intelligence comprises of a numbers of ‘branches’ or areas of study within computer science and machine learning. This includes fields such as:
• pattern recognition
• image processing
• symbolic learning
• statistical learning, etc
Now, through machine learning and combining different layers of data, patterns can be observed and measured in order to predict the results of specific outcomes.
Which is why artificial intelligence has also become a useful technology within the general content and marketing arena in some way or another.
And it’s not just software that uses AI technology. There are cameras that also use AI for simplifying complex tasks.
Take the Alice Camera for creators, for example. The Alice Camera is a good example of also making artificial intelligence available to camera phone users.
Whilst it works as a standalone camera, the Alice Camera can also be attached to a smartphone.
Or, there is the Olympus OM-D, where deep learning technology, allows the camera to record what makes satisfactory photos under certain conditions, based on the data it has already learned from.
Of course there’ll always be the odd photo, for which Luminar doesn’t quite get things right, without a little extra encouragement. However, in general, you can always be sure that you’ll have a way of achieving your editing intentions faster than before.
